Sexuality and Gestalt Therapy

November 22.-23. 2024 | 9:30 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 18:00 | Working language: English
Price: 4400 CZK (early bird till 30th August) | 4900 CZK (from 1st September)

Workshop description

In order to situate and contextualize the course, we will explore our personal process in relation to sexual 'material'. We will particularly explore how this affects our self-support and self-regulation should difficult feelings such as shame, arousal, disgust, judgement and excitement arise in the clinical setting, and how to manage these in support of the client.

Day 1
The language of sex, the physiology of sex and differing sexual practices will be explored to support knowledge and ease in communicating what can be an awkward subject for clients to raise.

Day 2
will be focused on sexual difficulties, dysfunctions and life-stage concerns. Topics may include infertility, aging and post-childbirth. Developing an understanding of clinical practice around sexual material will be at the core of this day. As part of this focus on clinical practice, we will also highlight and discuss when a referral to specialist sex therapy would be appropriate for clients.

In addition to and related to the above, we will consider the management of erotic feelings (theirs and/or ours), whilst staying within our ethical framework and remaining therapeutic. In all sessions, discussion is welcome and a core component of the learning.

The workshop is open to practicing gestalt therapists and trainees in the supervision stage of training programs.
